Roid Rage… It’s Time for Congress to Pee in a Cup Instead of Up a Rope
While waiting for flights in the San Diego and Atlanta airports today, I watched a few minutes of the 4 1/2 hour congressional hearing in which U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman and members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee delved into one of the most urgent and pressing matters facing our nation today - the prospect of steroid use in baseball.
Excuuuuse me? What the… We’ve got two shooting wars going on, a worn out military, a sputtering economy, completely dysfunctional health care delivery system, Osama still on the loose, bridges falling down, and the best thing these clowns thought they should be doing today was figuring out whether or not Roger Clemens was getting unfair advantage from a fastball that was juiced by performance enhancing drugs. Give me a break.
We need to do some drug testing alright, but I recommend we defer any further testing in the sports world until every member of Congress and the Administration has been afforded the opportunity to do what nearly every American job seeker gets to do prior to employment - pee in a cup. Really. These people have completely lost touch with reality.
Pardon the rant.

I totally agree with your comments. I cannot believe they are wasting the taxpayers money by investigating steroid use in baseball. As you point out, there are too many other issues that our government needs to be focused on, but what can you expect from a government that spends $42 million dollars to send out letters telling us that we are going to get tax rebates. You would have to have been on another planet to not have heard about this in the news. Just think about all the truly good areas that could have used that money.
